dw-5700: the old, the white and the yellow

i have always been a fan of the squarish dw-5600 series and its variants (including the dw-50XX, g-5600 and gw-5600 variants). starting from the basic dw-5600e to the most recent 25th anniversary ocean gray dw-5025d-8jf i think i have 20 variations of what i consider a timeless classic. on the other hand, the round dw-5700 series was a very recently “acquired taste”, and i have a very modest collection of three.
the first is the very old dw-5700c-1v. released in july 1987, it was reissued in august 2001 as the dw-5700-1jf.
i chanced upon this watch early this year lying in a shop somewhat dirty but surprisingly with a pretty spotless crystal.
like the dw-5600c-9 shown earlier this week, it sports a very utilitarian light bulb compared to the electro luminescent backlight used in current g-shocks.
another interesting feature is the “reminder” mode. once activated, the letters “rem” blink in the display – a more advanced alternative to tying a string around your pinkie.

on the other hand, the dw-5725b-7jf is the latest incarnation of the dw-5700 lineage. this watch is part of g-shock’s 25th anniversary rising white series. it has a reverse display, something i have a very big soft spot for.

rounding up this current collection (which i have a strange feeling still have room for growth…) is the very bright dw-5700y-9jf.

where can I find a dw5700 yellow resin as well as a yellow resin bezel and band for a 5600?
Hi Anthony,
i will imagine spares for 5700 is really rare now. For 5600, they may still be floating in auction sites like Yahoo Japan.
you can also try http://www.pacparts.com
cheers.
dave.
hi love your blog. i have a dw5700 but the bezel needs replacement, do you know where i can get one?
hi, if you are from singapore, the only two places will be marco marketing at henderson road or casio singapore at ioi plaza (middle road).
elsewhere, i think you may still be able to find parts from the white dw-5725b to use on your dw-5700. casio parts usa, pacparts.com, ebay and yahoo auctions japan are all possibilities.
alternatively, you can use a bezel from the dw-5600e series. they will fit your dw-5700 as well.
all this is assuming yours is not the vintage 5700c but the current model(s) with the 1545 module.
good luck
i am from singapore. my dw5700 was bought in 1988 or so i think, is it a 5700c? if i contact casio sg or marco, would they know which part to check? thanks so much…
first of all, congratulations on possessing a great and pretty rare watch. yes it should be a dw-5700c.
the bad news is, bezels for the 5700c are next to impossible to find. the ones that turn up on yahoo japan perhaps once every three months go for 10,000yen and upwards.
if you don’t mind, a dw-5600c bezel will fit your watch. marco or casio singapore MAY still have them; before you turn to overseas sources.
hi thanks. i will give it a try. unfortunately, my 5700 bezel has cracked so it is not so pretty anymore. will check with marco and casio as suggested. happy CNY!
