an indecent obsession: dw-8400bk-1mjf real black mudman
i will like to introduce my favourite g-shock among the zillions of models in the market: the dw-8400bk-1mjf from the real black series.
since seeing pictures of it online late last year, i was smitten.
after spending my grandmother’s ransom on a brand new in box piece with all papers intact a few months ago, i finally managed to hunt down a second copy. this one was in near mint condition with no papers and i thought i can safely wear it.
i am drawn to the ultra-stealthy look of the real black mudman. the display is inversed and not a tinge of colour can be seen on the bezel. depending on the viewing angle, the digits on the watch can appear red, pinkish or… somewhat invisible…
it is not clear why this model is so rare. legend has it that javy’s, the famous g-shock retailer in hong kong, has one on display in their shop. but that’s what it is for, display only.
at the time of writing this, there’s still one copy on ebay and two floating in yahoo auctions japan.

a parting shot before it gets locked away again… maybe it’s time to get a third copy…

your watch rox!
