men in moss swampman

ok that was a bad joke. this is actually the dw-8200ms-8t men in smoke frogman that has seen better days.

the men in smoke series feature a jelly-like opaque grey strap that had a lot of people asking: “how soon will such straps discolour?”.

honestly, i don’t have an answer. there have been numerous g-shock models that used such “jelly bands” and often times they are in light colours such as white or translucent, like the icerc gulfman i blogged about previously. my guess is heavy usage will naturally stain the bands faster and lead to discolouration.

i actually kind of like how this mis frogman has turned out, turning greenish with age. when it arrived, it looked better than the auction pictures i saw online so no complains here.

for the sake of comparison of colours, here’s the swampman next to a brand-new-in-box men in smoke frogman:

  1. So Ocean Grey series will turn to this color as well? Or they use different color? with daily use for example can it keep color for 6-7 months at least?
If not, where can it be obtained Ocean grey, ICERC straps? (except on ebay in ridiculously high prices)
    Thx

  2. Do you think the Spike Lee 5600 will release in S’pore?

  3. hi Ben,

sorry for the late reply. am on vacation now.

as far as i know, the spike lee dw-5000sl was selling at g-shock outlets for $170 about 2 weeks ago before i left the country.

have already asked my brother to secure one piece.

  4. [...] the suffix ms was historically used by the men-in-smoke series. does this mean another jelly/translucent bezel/band frogman following the glorious gold [...]

  5. [...] men in smoke dw-8200ms-8t frogman [...]
